Hon. Eddie Washington

Hon. Eddie Washington is the Illinois House 60th District  Representative.  The 60th District includes Waukegan, North Chicago, and Park City of Lake County, Illinois.

Mr. Washington originally is from down state East St. Louis, Illinois, but has resided in the Waukegan area for more than 25 years. Since his arrival, Representative Washington has been active in efforts to improve the community by working as a grass roots organizer, Precinct Committeeman, chairman of the Waukegan Democratic Party, Vice Chairman of Central Democratic Organization, and others.  He also is the founder of an activist group called P.O.W.E.R. (People Organized and Working for Equal Respect).
Representative Washington worked for the Lake County Urban League as Director of Employment and Economic Development and was Director of a homeless shelter for men known as the Staben Center.

Prior to winning the General Assembly seat for the 60th District, Mr. Washington served as the First Black Trustee for the North Shore Sanitary District and also hosted "The Eddie Washington Journal," a radio talk show on WKRS 1220 AM.

Representative Washington’s experience and dedication to the best interest of working families are reflected in his legislative agenda, which includes providing an economic stimulus for Waukegan and North Chicago such as the recent Enterprise Zone Designation. Representative Washington's future focus will be on the transformation and revitalization of the Tenth Street Business Corridor, which both Waukegan and North Chicago connects.
